Notes from High Tide—Full Moon in Leo & (Free) Writing Prompts
Last Thursday, January 29th, we held the third instalment of High Tide. I wanted to share a piece of the workshop here. Partly because it takes real care and labour to create, and it’s also pertinent as we’re in this energy tonight.
For those unfamiliar, High Tide / Low Tide is a long-forming brain child of mine. It’s a creative workshop about working with the natural cycles of the earth & moon, and the qualitative nature of time itself. Not as woo-abstraction (though I do love me some woo), but as a practical way of garnering lessons, self-discovery, and harnessing momentum. I work with the very talented sound practitioner May Globus, she performs a sound bath to support somatic integration of insights garnered during the session. I believe talking, thinking, and meditation can only take us so far, and at a certain point it’s best to let the body have it’s own experience.
As many of you likely know already, full moons are moments of culmination and release. If you imagine the tide at its absolute highest, pulled outward by the moon, it has the natural ability to carry debris with it as it recedes. Physical, emotional, and creative blocks all carry the same principles here. Full moons also represent illumination. You can picture a flashlight being on. What was previously unseen or unsolved comes into full view, and because it’s visible, we can more easily solve issues because we can finally see the whole picture. When you begin to track these patterns and develop a relationship with them, you begin to see how real they are.
Today, the Full Moon is in Leo. This cycle brings up the relationship between the individual and the collective, the artist and the audience. The Leo-Aquarius axis. Leo, a sign ruled by the Sun, is not about performance or visibility for its own, self-serving sake. It’s about the natural radiance that emerges when someone is rooted in their own, core centre. That light is a by-product of knowing who you are and acting in accordance with that understanding.
After all, the Sun doesn’t shine because it wants applause. It shines because it’s the Sun.
With the Full Moon activating this axis, we begin to ask ourselves—Where do you adjust yourself for the audience? And where does that adjustment cost us something? Inviting a release from the external gaze and a reclamation of authorship of your story, your song, your offering to the collective.
Astrologer, Austin Coppick, describes the sun using the metaphor of the alchemical symbol: a circle with a single point at its core. We can use this in thinking of the individual and how it has two distinct layers. The first, outer circle reflects the roles we play, the identities we accumulate and move through in daily life. The second, central point, the dot, represents the million times hotter blazing core, that contains both who we are and the potential of everything we ever could be.
The work is not in perfecting the outer ring, but reconnecting and amplifying the hotter centre core. And allowing that part of you to be the central, leading force.
Writing Prompts from HIGH TIDE for the Full Moon in Leo…
What, if anything in my life is currently asking to be let go?
When are where do I feel like i’m contributing to the level of my soul? My greatest service? What innate gifts do people already recognize in me?
What roles am I playing in my work, social networks, and relationships at large? Which ones still feel true, and which ones feel like they’re being asked to evolve?
Is there a part of me, perhaps a talent or a gift, that I keep private or underutilize, but I know is real? What does this part need in order to feel safe, supported, and permitted to be expressed?
If I brought that inner person online (my inner core), who would I have to be, what energy would I have to embody? What does this person know? What do they do, make, & think? What wouldn’t they give a damn about anymore?
If your interested in working with me on 1:1 capacity, I’m booking in March for my 90 minute “PLAN-IT” Sessions. A 1:1 Planetary Planning Session designed for you translate your own personal current astrological landscape into clear, usable direction. You leave with a visual time map of the next 12 months, plus a custom AI model programmed with your personal natal information and transits you can parlay with post-session.
